Fundraising Campaign

The Madison Zen Center is fortunate to occupy an historic house that dates to the 1890’s. As with any structure, it requires continual upkeep and repairs.

To address some much-needed repairs and improvements, we’ve created a special appeal for the following:

  1. Upgrading the Building’s Electrical System.  Our first priority was to replace the Center’s outdated, potentially hazardous knob-and-tube wiring.  Due to safety concerns, we’ve taken a loan and completed this work.
  2. Upgrading Windows and Repairing Woodwork.  Plans include: energy-efficient windows to replace the existing original ones on the second floor, including repair of rotted sills; repair or replacement of damaged areas of the building’s exterior wood siding and trim; and repairs to the front porch railings.
  3. Updating Kitchen Cabinets and Flooring. We’d like to update the kitchen cabinets and drawers to better serve our needs during sesshin and other large group functions as well as replace the worn kitchen flooring.
  4. Making the Center Energy Efficient. Lastly, we would like to invest in upgrades to the Center’s energy efficiency, including insulation and energy-efficient appliances.

Our goal is to raise $50,000, and we would welcome and be honored by any donation you’re able to provide.
